Ballina District Historical Museum

Ballina District Museum presents the social and cultural history of Ballina and its surrounding districts, including Pimlico, Wardell, Lennox Head and Tintenbar. Its collection is built around local historical material such as documents, photographs, maps and artefacts, giving visitors a way to explore the area’s past through community records and objects.

The museum operates from the heritage Pimlico Hall at 580 Pimlico Road, a local building with its own history and photographs dating from the 1930s, 1960s and later years featured on the society’s website. The setting is community-focused rather than formal, with the museum’s displays developing through the work of volunteers, donations and local research.

The Ballina and District Historical Society was established in 2019 by locals who wanted to preserve and share the district’s history. The museum suits visitors interested in regional stories, families introducing children to local history, and small groups. Individuals and groups can visit during the regular Friday and Sunday opening period, while organised tours are available on other days by arrangement. Admission includes tea, coffee and biscuits for adults, with children and members admitted free. Groups of 10 to 20 can also arrange a visit with morning tea and a tour.
