Cavanbah Centre is a Byron Shire Council community facility on Ewingsdale Road in Byron Bay, designed to accommodate a broad mix of sport, cultural activities, meetings and events. Rather than a traditional gallery, it functions as a flexible complex that can be configured for conferences, trade shows, gala dinners, graduations, performances, parties and community gatherings.
The venue includes a main stadium with two indoor courts, tiered spectator seating, change rooms and showers, as well as two multi-function rooms with polished timber floors, mirrors, dance bars, audio systems, mobile AV equipment and wireless internet. Its auditorium has a stage and adaptable layout for theatrical performances, festivals, trade expos, cultural events and private functions. A foyer provides seating for visitors, along with vending machines and a filtered water fountain.
Outdoor facilities include three courts, five sports fields, a running track, cycling track and a 1,021-metre circuit for cycling training and racing. The centre lists facilities for activities including basketball, netball, volleyball, badminton, pickleball, futsal, AFL, athletics, cricket, soccer and ultimate frisbee. It also offers spaces for classes and workshops, group fitness and dance, meetings, celebrations and filming or photography projects, subject to the relevant application process.
With air conditioning, audio-visual equipment, multiple rooms, off-street parking and accessible features listed in the venue snapshot, Cavanbah Centre suits sporting clubs, community groups, schools, businesses, performers and event organisers. Families may find it useful for birthday parties and children’s activities, while larger groups can use the stadium, auditorium, fields or function rooms. Bookings are handled through the Council’s Bookable system, with availability and requirements varying by space.
Spot Score
The Spot Score is our composite of five signals — two about the venue's standing with visitors and three about how complete and current this listing is. It is not a visitor rating and not a verdict on the food or the experience. The 4.5 from 200 reviews is Google's visitor rating, shown separately and never altered by us.
