Why it's worth checking out
Mend is an exercise physiology studio in Suffolk Park, Byron Bay, offering a considered alternative to high-intensity gym culture. Its focus is on intelligent, sustainable training that helps people move better, build strength and feel more capable in everyday life. Sessions are designed around the individual, with exercise physiologists creating evidence-based programs that can support functional strength, mobility, rehabilitation and long-term wellbeing.
The studio specialises in strength training related to bone health, including exercise for people looking to improve bone density or manage osteopenia and osteoporosis. Mend also offers ONERO-specific sessions, using the principles of the ONERO approach in a structured and supervised setting. Alongside this work, the team supports clients managing musculoskeletal injuries, chronic pain and reduced confidence after injury or diagnosis. Training is intended to be safe, progressive and tailored rather than pushed at a one-size-fits-all pace.
The space is described as light-filled, welcoming and well equipped, with a supportive atmosphere where strength is encouraged without being shouted about. Clients can choose personalised one-to-one exercise physiology sessions or small semi-private classes capped at four participants. That format allows for close guidance while retaining a sense of community, and may suit people who want more support than a conventional gym environment provides. The studio works with both women and men, and welcomes people who are new to strength training as well as those rebuilding their capacity after injury.
Mend was founded by Byron Shire local Seif, who holds a Master’s in Exercise Physiology from Southern Cross University and has spent seven years in private practice. His approach considers the body as a whole, with particular experience in bone density, osteoporosis, osteopenia, musculoskeletal injuries and chronic pain. Senior exercise physiologist Josh also grew up in the Byron Shire and brings a background spanning rehabilitation, performance, strength training, pain management and osteoporosis. His work is shaped by experience with specialist doctors, physiotherapists and psychologists in Sydney.
Mend is suited to solo clients seeking tailored guidance, or to people who prefer a small, encouraging class setting rather than a busy commercial gym. Its emphasis is on feeling safe, informed and empowered while developing strength that supports life beyond the studio.
Spot Score
The Spot Score is our composite of five signals — two about the venue's standing with visitors and three about how complete and current this listing is. It is not a visitor rating and not a verdict on the food or the experience. The 5.0 from 7 reviews is Google's visitor rating, shown separately and never altered by us.
