Yoflo

Yoflo is a self-serve frozen yoghurt and dessert bar on Lawson Street, just moments from the beach in Byron Bay. The idea is simple but flexible: choose your yoghurt, add toppings, finish with sauce, then take your creation to the counter to be weighed and paid for. There are eight frozen yoghurt options in total, with four dairy and four vegan varieties made from natural yoghurt, while two flavours change each week. It works equally well for a quick afternoon treat, a post-dinner stop or a relaxed visit when you want to build something to your own taste.

The toppings reflect Yoflo’s Byron Bay setting and focus on local producers. The selection includes nine freshly cut fruits each day, Brookfarm granolas and muesli, Waliz honey-roasted macadamias, Byron Brownies and Byron Bay Peanut Butter, alongside sweeter additions. Warm sauces such as macadamia cream, salted caramel banana, pistachio and Nutella provide the finishing touch. For something beyond frozen yoghurt, the menu includes bubble waffles made fresh to order, smoothies, natural dairy and coconut yoghurt bowls, bubble tea and barista-made coffee, as well as chai, matcha, juices, nootropics and sparkling waters.

The venue has a bright, casual feel shaped around choice and participation. Yoflo describes its approach as creative, community-minded and designed for enjoying a moment in-store, whether you are settling in or picking up something on the go. Its self-serve format suits families and groups who want different combinations, while the range of dairy-free yoghurt and fresh fruit gives those looking for lighter or vegan options something to work with. The drinks and made-to-order waffles also make it more than a yoghurt stop. Yoflo says it uses reusable cups and spoons where possible and supports local primary schools and sporting clubs.

Yoflo began as a street stall in 2011 at the corner of Jonson and Marvell streets, founded by Mick Godwin as Byron Bay’s first frozen yoghurt store. It moved to its permanent Lawson Street location in 2013, and Hayley Richards has owned the business since taking over in 2019. Following a refurbishment in late 2024, it continues to welcome locals, visitors and families at 3/19–23 Lawson Street. With its self-serve format, rotating flavours and broad selection of toppings and drinks, Yoflo is a practical choice for anyone wanting a custom dessert near the centre of Byron Bay.
