Why it's worth checking out

North Belongil Beach is part of the long Belongil stretch running north from Byron Bay towards Brunswick Heads. It offers a more open coastal setting than the beaches directly in town, with space for a walk and views along the shoreline.

Dogs can be taken onto Belongil Beach where permitted by local signage. At the northern end of the beach, beyond Belongil Creek, the area is clothes optional, so visitors should be aware of this before choosing where to settle.

The wreck of the Wollongbar sits just offshore near the beach access at the top end of Jonson Street. The remains are noted as offering snorkelling opportunities, although conditions at the beach can change. North Belongil suits visitors looking for a less central Byron Bay beach experience, as well as dog owners and those interested in exploring a distinctive part of the coastline.
