Why it's worth checking out

Mullumbimby Rugby League Football Club & Caravan Park offers a practical camping base in Mullumbimby, around 15 minutes from Byron Bay. The grounds have 40 sites, with powered, unpowered and waterfront options, as well as large sites shaded by trees. Some spots look towards the river, giving campers space to slow down between days out in the Northern Rivers. The campground is also listed as 10 minutes from the Bluesfest grounds, making it a useful option for festival camping over the Easter weekend.

Facilities are designed for self-sufficient stays, including an equipped camp kitchen with a fridge and cooktops, laundry facilities with washing machines and dryers, an amenities block and a sewerage dump point. Guests can fish, kayak and walk around the river setting, with the site noting more than 20 bird species observed nearby. The campground is pet friendly, allowing up to two pets per site, although dogs must remain on a lead and animals cannot be left unattended. Campfires are not permitted, and quiet hours apply from 10pm to 7am.

The campground sits within a longstanding community sporting precinct. The leagues club building was constructed in 1984 and remains a meeting place for local sporting organisations, including the Mullumbimby Giants rugby league teams, touch football, OzTag and soccer. The surrounding complex is used for community and school sport, giving the stay a distinctly local, club-based character rather than a resort feel. The club can also be hired for functions such as weddings, presentations, dinners, conferences and fundraising events, although the camping facilities are the main accommodation offering.

With powered sites listed from $37 a night in low season, unpowered sites from $32 and waterfront sites from $48, the park caters to different camping setups; peak-season and festival rates are higher. Children aged 16 and under are listed as free, and sites accommodate up to four people. It suits solo travellers, couples and families travelling with a caravan, camper or tent, as well as visitors attending nearby events. Bookings must be made by calling the caretaker on 0405 198 866: the website says reservations are not accepted by email, text, Facebook or online.

The Spot Score is our composite of five signals — two about the venue's standing with visitors and three about how complete and current this listing is. It is not a visitor rating and not a verdict on the food or the experience. The 4.4 from 317 reviews is Google's visitor rating, shown separately and never altered by us.
